While flipping through the November 1993 issue of Vogue, taking in the sweet sights of
quilted bustiers and sequined stirrup pants, I came across the “Talking Fashion” page, which
was sort of the who’s who of trendsetters of the moment.
There, wedged between Cyndi Lauper and Michelle Pfeiffer was a 4 foot tall Mae Elvis, looking
daringly darling (as always) in her velvet hat and coat, and Betsey Johnson floral number. For
those of you that don’t know Mae, she’s one of the main magic makers doing styling and
photography at American Apparel. Well, today’s her birthday, and I thought it was a good time
to remind her how darn cute she still is, 16 (!!) years later.
Happy Birthday, Mae Elvis!
