It always ends up
coming back to the
D. I can’t go a day
in New York without
making a Michigan
connection. Of
course it hit me
again when I asked
the young Lauren
Flax, “So, Where Do
You Come From?”

I’ll take her word
when she said Six
Mile and Gratiot.
It’s a good area.
The East Side.
Everybody should
check it out at some
point in their
lives. Back in the
early 90′s I didn’t
know what techno
music was, even
though it was
blasting on the
radio every weekend
on 96.3 and WJLB.
Not only was Lauren
lucky enough to go
to “Party/Raves”
she also DJayed them
as well with the
likes of Carl Craig.
So when I was at
Record Time gazing
on the wall about
what Guided By
Voices 7 inch I
should buy she was
probably in the
Dance Room housing
it up to a classic
Saunderson
track.

Fast forward to 2009
and Lauren is
currently working on
her own music,
remixing, and is the
on tour DJ for
Fischerspooner.
Today’s Naked
Friday’s Pt. 31 is
one of the better
house mixes we’ve
had on Viva Radio!
