The L.A. Times has published its second editorial in support of American Apparel and
the recent parting of more than 1,500 of our important and hardworking
employees. The editorial board disputes the notion that this action will
somehow open up more jobs for Americans or that this is good for Los
Angeles. The reality it is that these people, illegal or undocumented, have
always been Americans. They live here, they work here, they raise families
and pay taxes here. The L.A. Times is worried that now they will be forced
back into the shadows, or even to homelessness. If such is the result of
the proper enforcement of any law, then we should think seriously about its
fairness. As always, these articles are playing an important part in
informing people about the reality of our current immigration laws. Feel
free to share and discuss them with friends or family who may benefit from
seeing them. We also encourage you to read these Letters to the Editor published in the New
York Times after their articles about American Apparel. Total strangers
from all over the US wrote in to express their sadness over the matter and
their support for change.
