American Apparel Hits the Books

BlackBook Mag wrote up a nice piece on
one of our latest styles, the
Library Tee
, a series of shirts dedicated to the extensive photo
collection of
the Los Angeles Public
Library
.

From the article:

“When the kids at American Apparel raided the photo archives of the
Los Angeles Public Library, they weren’t looking for old photos of the
freeway construction, but instead for pics of the real folks responsible for
the seedy side of the City of Angels we’ve all come to love and depend on.
The Jerri Blanks who eschewed sleep for all-night ragers, who stole church
money to buy coke and liquid eyeliner, who proudly subsisted on the
caffeitine diet and, undoubtedly, the ones who would have worn the ripped
and torn, shiny, gilded, and glorious offerings of American Apparel had it
been around in the late 70s/early 80s.”
